Runners

Runners help aid the body during activities or sports that can be placing increased stress on the body, with increased cushioning, support and stability helping you to more safely and more comfortably achieve optimal results. It is important to have shoes specific to your activity, normal running shoes aren’t as good for activities other than running as that’s not what they’re designed to do. They are designed for single plain motion. If you are playing a specific sport it is best to have shoes specific to that sport as they are designed to assist with the load and movements experienced. i.e Tennis, Netball, basketball, hockey. Having sport specific shoes will also increase the lifespan of the shoe.

My tips:

Shoes don’t last forever, on average a shoe you wear a few times a week will wear out within a 12 month period, but it all depends on how much you’re using it, if you run long distances multiple times in a week your shoes may only last a few months before they need replacing, as otherwise they are not providing the shock absorption and support necessary for high impact activities. Always wear socks with your runners, I can’t even count the number of patients I have had who come in with fungal infections that most often could have been prevented by wearing socks!
